Smart City

The Smart City Project forms part of the wider ranging scenario which sees towns and cities transformed into “smart centres”, characterised by the widespread use of innovative technologies, with the aim of increasing sustainability, optimising urban performance levels and improving the quality of life of the residents and at the same time their security, which is a fundamental element of social development.

The project represents a single solution for the integrated management of all the problems regarding the security of a town or city and of its transport networks, consisting of various systems and sensors active in urban areas, such as:

  • Video Surveillance Systems
  • License Plate Recognition Systems
  • Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL)
  • Variable Message Signs (VMS)
  • Parking Management Systems
  • Traffic Survey Systems
  • SOS points (Cometa)
  • Smart SOS
  • Phone Communications
  • Radio Communications

The heart of the solution is a Control Room in the town consisting of an Integrated Supervision and Management Platform which interfaces all the subsystems correlating data and images.

The platform presents all the data on a GIS (Geographic Information System) and integrates the management of all the processes (Reception of Calls and Events, Classification of Incidents, Interventions Open/Resolved, Sending of Patrols, etc.) and all the communications (phone, radio, text, e-mail, etc.).

The platform is flexible, modular and scalable, with a personalised and user-friendly interface which allows the management to be customised according to the characteristics and needs of the town.

The implementation of the Smart City platform allows management of all the events which occur within the town and it is a preventative tool allowing the combination of data coming from various systems which are not generally connected with each other, highlighting potential dangers and risks.

The platform is also a valid tool for the management of emergencies, since in the case of incidents (terrorist attacks, vandalism, unauthorised demonstrations, accidents, robberies, etc.) it is possible to bring together data from several Databases and quickly provide contextualised information in order to have information which is appropriate and related.
